The Association of Professional Bodyboarders (APB) World Tour is the sole governing body of the World Bodyboarding Tour – crowning bodyboarding’s undisputed world champions. The APB World Tour also represents the athletes, officials & event promoters with the paramount goal of delivering the sport of bodyboarding to a vast growing audience of spectators, supporters and fans around the world and also develop the sport from the grass roots level right through to the world’s elite top 32 professional bodyboarders. The APB World Tour is dedicated to showcasing the world’s elite bodyboarders in the world’s best waves, celebrating and growing the history of bodyboarding, its elite athletes, diverse fans and dedicated partners that together embody bodyboarding today.

Professional bodyboarding was birthed in Hawaii at the infamous Pipeline in 1982. Since then, as major extreme sports evolved, bodyboarding has grown globally in the recent years with numbers of participants exceeding the tens of millions across the globe. With the sport expanding at a rapid pace, the future prospects are nothing shy of phenomenal!

Quipmo and the APB World Tour announce global partnership to get more people bodyboarding all over the world!

Quipmo and the APB World Tour have big plans to get more people bodyboarding and to substantially improve access to bodyboards worldwide. Whether it’s at the grassroots getting kids bodyboarding on holidays or whether it’s giving access to the latest gear releases through demonstration models – this partnership will get more people in the water and more people passionate about bodyboarding!

Quipmo’s founder and CEO Chris Evans said: “We’re absolutely over the moon to be partnering with a truly world class organisation who are driving bodyboarding to the forefront of action sports globally and who are have great ambition to open new markets. We’re equally stoked to be working with people who are just as passionate about adventure and the water as we are. We can’t wait to be part of bodyboarding’s rapid growth and to offer a place where people can get or rent out their gear safely, efficiently and with a process that is … easy.”

“We’re stoked to be able to partner with Quipmo on an incredible concept. I honestly can’t see this not working at all – it’s a no brainer idea and will take off! We are super stoked to be part of it especially at ground level.” said Alex Leon CEO ABP World Tour.

Deloitte Access Economics estimates that the collaborative economy already makes up around 1-2% of the retail goods market in Australia. Given that on average 8 million different Australians interact with eBay on a monthly basis, and with Time Magazine’s recent findings that 70% of Americans have directly participated in the share economy, it’s not hard to imagine the potential impact of this partnership in Australia and abroad.

“Helping people have small adventures more frequently by giving them access to great gear all around the world is incredibly exciting. Everyone smiles when they’re doing something they enjoy – through this partnership we hope to make those adventures a whole lot easier.” Evans said.

The Game Changing STACT app and the APB World Tour Partner Up In 2018

1/22/2018 – The APB Tour and STACT have been working together to bring the most immersive competition experience to the bodyboarding community. Starting in 2018, Stact will feature the entire APB Tour contests with live results and stats for fans to follow. Following contests, athletes and knowing tour rankings, is all in the palm of your hand and is updated in real-time. Not only is Stact making contest results more accessible for fans, but athletes will have detailed stats and data that allows them to better understand their performance. Stact App is available for free on iOS and Android.

“Stact App is a sophisticated yet ultra simple-to-use app that is going to change the game in action sports statistics. It’s sleek look allows you to guide your way through multiple sports and allows you access to your favorite rider down to the smaller details. Something that is going to seriously turn heads!”

Iain Campbell – 2017 APB World Champion

Scoring System – Stact is made up of two parts – the fan app and the Stact scoring system for contest organizers. Stact scoring provides scoring for judges, head judge, display for beach announcers, and a digital priority system to simplify the entire process. Stact scoring updates the fan app in real-time giving users access to in-depth heat stats and results instantly. Stact also provides an instant replay system for judges to review waves right after it’s ridden. The video clips will eventually be linked to the scores in the app for athletes, coaches, and fans to watch. The APB has played a major role in helping Stact test their scoring features and optimize the system to where it is today.

“We are very pleased to have been a part of this creation concept with Stact and Stact scoring. Over the past 18 months we have helped the team at Stact to develop and create the first ever statistical data platform for the sport of Bodyboarding and also trial and develop Stact scoring – the action sports live scoring system.”

Alex Leon – CEO APB Tour

Bodyboarding Archives – In addition to live results, Stact provides a look into the past with archived events and results. Because of the incredible contribution from Craig Hadden and the APB, archives from 2015, 2016, and, 2017 are currently available and events dating back to 2000 will arrive in later updates. Users will be able to compare results and see rankings from the past 18 years of the APB Tour. Access to this type of information has been difficult to find, but now Stact is making it easy to research past events and world champions.

“I think it’s an amazing initiative. Having this information is something missing in our sport. How to beat the records if you don’t know them?”

Pierre Louis-Costes – Two time world champion

Stact Vision – Their vision is to recognize and work with all aspects of competitive action sports, not just the major organizations such as APB Tour. Stact wants all athletes and fans of action sports to have a single destination, creating one great community. They are currently working with APB Tour, Australian Bodyboard Association, Federación Chilena de Bodyboard, Confederação Brasileira de Bodyboarding, and Japan Professional Bodyboarding Association.

“Whether you’re an APB athlete or starting your career in local contests, you deserve to track your progress and have a profile in our app. We want Stact to be a tool that inspires the next generation of top athletes to compete and reach their goals”

Mike Jegat – CEO Stact App

Stact is available for free on iTunes and Google play

Welcome: 2018 Competitive Season

Bodyboarding’s 2018 competition season is imminent.

Things kick off in a mere two weeks time with the Inverted QLD State titles presented by Pride Bodyboards sounding the siren at the first stop of the titles –  the Sunshine Coast. A massive opportunity for any budding underground bodyboarder’s to throw their name in the hat and challenge the best on the playing field. State titles are Queensland’s premier event in determining a national squad to take on the rest of Australia at the National Bodyboarding Titles later in the year.

Coinciding with State Titles sign is sign on to local clubs – undeniably the best way to push yourself in the bodyboarding world.

Local clubs represent and push grass roots bodyboarding, allowing riders to improve and associate with riders of similar or higher calibre. Sunshine Coast Bodyboard Club are holding their sign on over the 28th of this month, which is this coming Sunday. Cruise down to Inverted Sunshine Coast for further information and to sign up. Indulge in the sausage sizzle and get to know the lovely folk who’ve been backing the club to make it what it is today. If you’re unable to get down to the sign on day you can always sign on online via the URL HERE.

Meanwhile Gold Coast Bodyboard Club don’t have a sign on day as such, but do have sign on available online HERE. Gold Coast Bodyboard Club much like the Sunshine Coast have played home to some of the best bodyboarders in the world over the period of their existence. They continue now to push riders to their maximum potential in a competitive environment. Feel free to email them for any further inquiries at gcbodyboardingclub@gmail.com. With what promises to be another big year in competitive bodyboarding on the Gold Coast we recommend getting in asap before all places fill up.
